All time Favorites

Memory is the diary that we all carry about with us. Oscar Wilde.

Are you one of those people that can remember faces, numbers and names long after you’ve discovered them? That’s not me.

Something happened after I hit 50. I walk to the kitchen pantry and think “now, what was I looking for” or I get to the top of the stairs and forget why I went up there.

Good thing I keep a journal and take lots of photos!

So many of these photos have been captured on the Weekly Photo Challenges, run by The Daily Post, which has been such a great source of prompting over the years.

I’ll miss the pictorial prompts, the musings and the inspiration from all of the fabulous writers each week. For this last photo challenge they’ve asked for our ‘all time favourites’.

Where to start?  Here’s a few favourites you’ve likely seen before.

“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera … they are made with the eye, heart and head.”Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Favourite places

This is a snippet of the places I’ve visited and photographed since I’ve been blogging these past three years. The Red Centre of Australia, mesmerising Lake Hart, the incredible Kings Canyon, the ancient aura of the Flinders Ranges, the prehistoric forests of the Otways, the endless oceans … the list goes on.

“Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.” ~Albert Einstein

Favourite camp spots

We’ve camped beneath red towering gorges and alongside pristine mountain creeks. We’ve dined riverside and on the shores of a salt lake. Closer to home we’ve camped with horses at Frys Flat in the High Country and explored off road tracks near picturesque Yackandandah.

So many roads to travel and I’ve barely scratched the surface.

“Live with no excuses and travel with no regrets”

Favourite family and friends moments:

Our favourite moments are often intertwined with travel and adventure, however often the happiest times are those spent at home. Simple joys of celebrations with family and friends, shared meals, funny moments with our pets, our nine months of life with Lamby.  I’ve shared many of them here over the past three years.

“Every moment is a fresh beginning.” ~T.S. Eliot

As we begin the month of June my wish is that we grab life with both hands. Life’s too short to not take that trip, eat the second piece of chocolate cake, love wholeheartedly and pursue that dream.

“There is only one success: to be able to spend your life in your own way.” ~Christopher Morley
