About

Hi and Welcome.

Thanks so much for dropping by and checking out my blog.   I’ve been putting words to paper ever since I can remember and, in my late twenties, a Comprehensive Writing Course lead me to my passion – writing about places I visit and the people I meet along the way who inspire me.

Then I started targeting magazines. It was hard work and it took years, but today I can proudly I’m a published freelance writer. It’s exciting to be contributing regularly to a number of well established Australian travel magazines, which you can view here.  And equally exciting to be writing my own blog.

My travels have taken me to Europe, Asia and the Pacific however I’m now enjoying the delights of my own backyard, right here in Australia. Whenever I can, I hit the road and write, I take photos and relish the great outdoors.

There’s so much inspiration waiting out there.

I hope through this blog I can share my life, not just on the tracks but close to home, doing ordinary everyday stuff.

When I’m not traveling I live on the outskirts of Melbourne with a wonderful man who shares my sense of adventure and two teenage children who keep me on my toes. I enjoy the simple pleasures of life: keeping fit, walks with my dog, dance and Zumba, playing my guitar, good food, red wine, dark chocolate, hanging out with friends and generally trying to make the most out of life. Turning ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.

Hopefully I can inspire you through my words and pictures as I share my world.wild stuffDSCN5529 (800x600)

Come with me as I get out and about in this world where we’re all connected. And, if you want to comment on any of my posts, or just say hello, I would love to hear from you.

  1. Hi Miriam, wow – I love that you also contribute towards magazines! I wonder, how did this come about? I would love to contribute to holistic health and wellness magazines. Did you just approach them with a sample of your writing? Warm wishes, Hayley xx

    1. Hi Hayley, yes I pretty much did that. Studied my markets, emailed the editors, got their specs, tailored the articles to what they wanted and sent a pitch and/or a complete package of words and pics. It took a while but was worth persevering. You could do the same with the heath and wellness magazines, they’re often on the lookout for new writers. Good luck! xo

        1. I’m looking at your blog now and will leave you some comments. But I will say straight out that your photography is beautiful. Not sure what advice I can give you other than keep putting your work out there for people to find your talent. Good luck.

Your ‘About’ reads beautifully and includes your many passions and interests. We can receive a little surprise with every post, wondering what adventures you’ve been having with your family or perhaps reading about your ‘close to home’ thoughts that arise in your heart, as you watch the sunset from your garden…
Whatever inspires your creative writing, I’ll be along for the journey with you…
    Hugs from Di 💕🌹

        5. Miriam, two hours. That’s such a marathon. Almost too much to be able to keep your mouth open. Yes, you certainly need multiple hugs after that my lovely friend. Sending them now🌈🌈 Teeth are just so troublesome- I’m the same!
Take it easy tonight and hope it’s all over for you now.
