About Me

Hi and welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’ve always loved exploring, discovering new places and writing about my experiences so it seems only natural that I am where I am.  Travelling, writing and seeing my stories in print was always a dream of mine.

IMG_2786 (533x800)

It took years (and lots of rejections and perseverance)  to fulfil my dream, but today I’m thrilled to call myself a full time freelance writer. It’s exciting to be contributing regularly to a number of well established Australian travel magazines, which you can view here.

Since 2018 I’ve also fulfilled another dream of having my own travel column in the well respected Australian travel magazine On the Road.

And then there’s my blog, where you’ve landed.

I’ll take you beyond the ordinary “what to see” and “where to go”. I’ll immerse you in the experience and the feeling of a place. Here you’ll find a combination of travel/adventure/photography/destination and motivational lifestyle. Living authentically, mindfully and enjoying the moments, wherever you might be. I’ll show you Australia through my eyes and I’ll write incorporating deeper meaning and messages.

Embracing the light

Today my passion in life is inspiring others to get out and travel and to see the bigger picture.

My dream is to travel the width and breadth of Australia with my intrepid partner in our caravan and document it, on paper, in photos, through this blog and on video. My aim is to produce a travel and lifestyle coffee table book on our travels and ultimately my own magazine that incorporates travel and wellbeing, a holistic way of experiencing Australia.

While I’m taking steps to achieve my dream I’ll continue to write articles and share my musings and adventures on this blog.

I live on the outskirts of Melbourne and I’m blessed to have a husband who shares my sense of adventure. With both my children grown up and one still at home I’m almost an empty-nester. This is my time of self-discovery again.

I’m in love with life and being in alignment with who I am and my purpose on this earth. Life is what we make it. I feel as though 2020 has been a year of growth and personal transformation and I’m excited to see where the road takes me next.

Loving life on and off the tracks. This is where I’ll share my life, not just on the tracks but close to home. Adventure is found everywhere, it’s simply how you look at life. I’m a big believer in turning ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.

Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to collaborate. Or just drop by and say hello. I’ll always reply.wild stuffDSCN5529 (800x600)

Happy travels. Here’s to enjoying the journey together.

  1. Hi Miriam, wow – I love that you also contribute towards magazines! I wonder, how did this come about? I would love to contribute to holistic health and wellness magazines. Did you just approach them with a sample of your writing? Warm wishes, Hayley xx

    1. Hi Hayley, yes I pretty much did that. Studied my markets, emailed the editors, got their specs, tailored the articles to what they wanted and sent a pitch and/or a complete package of words and pics. It took a while but was worth persevering. You could do the same with the heath and wellness magazines, they’re often on the lookout for new writers. Good luck! xo

I click shots from the era of reel photography and SLR days till today’s digital world as an Amateur but never had taken any formal course in photography and even of late I have started writing Photoblogs on different subjects putting my phographs taken over years.I am quite hopeful and rather I expect as a novice from you that just once you have a glimpse of my blogs and lend your valuable suggestions. 5. Hello dear Miriam,
Your ‘About’ reads beautifully and includes your many passions and interests. We can receive a little surprise with every post, wondering what adventures you’ve been having with your family or perhaps reading about your ‘close to home’ thoughts that arise in your heart, as you watch the sunset from your garden…
Whatever inspires your creative writing, I’ll be along for the journey with you…
    Hugs from Di 💕🌹

        6. Miriam, two hours. That’s such a marathon. Almost too much to be able to keep your mouth open. Yes, you certainly need multiple hugs after that my lovely friend. Sending them now🌈🌈 Teeth are just so troublesome- I’m the same!
Take it easy tonight and hope it’s all over for you now.
          Love from me ✨💕💕

One more next week and then two crowns in six months time. 😏 Thanks for my hugs, they’re gratefully received! Hope you’ve had a lovely day Di. Stay warm. Love from me 💕🌸
