Jumping into January – Our first Homestay

January 18, 2023

“I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring” said David Bowie. That’s me, as I start this year of surrender and unknown paths. 2023 has begun slowly but with intention. Life is all about balance. And awesome adventure.
Wild, wet and wonderful. 💚🌴That’s Babinda, our free camp about 60kms south of Cairns. Swipe through to see some tropical low life and our little green hitchhiker. 🌴🏝️
Gorgeous Etty Bay, not far from Innisfail. There’s not much here, except a road that leads to a soft white beach, a Surf Life Saving Club and a small caravan park. Oh, and the local Southern Cassowarys that patrol the area.
Everyone has a dream. For Jose Paronella, a pastry chef coming from Spain to Far North Queensland in 1929 his dream was to build a castle. And so he did! On 13 acres beside Mena Creek Falls he built castles, bridges and tunnels and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7000 tropical plants and trees.
First campfire we’ve had in ages! From beachside to riverside in under an hour. We mightn’t be travelling very far or fast but we’re loving the changeable far North Queensland landscape. 🌴
