Wild Night as Tash turns 18

May 1, 2016

My daughter turned 18 two days ago.  Legally she’s an adult now but she’ll always be my baby.  One who’s never liked a big fuss or being the centre of attention but this weekend that’s what she was. On Friday night we drove to Mansfield, where she’s worked casually at a horse trail riding company … More Wild Night as Tash turns 18

Party time at the 139 Festival

April 4, 2016

Boy, do Argentinians know how to party!  Last Saturday my neighbors of 20 plus years threw a party to celebrate their combined birthdays:  two 50s, a 21st and an 18th all this year.  Add them all together and you get a 139 Festival to celebrate Milestone Birthdays. Over the years we’ve been to a few … More Party time at the 139 Festival

This is my latest article in print and it’s a story close to my heart … a feature on some of my favourite places when growing up in Sale. We retraced some steps in South Gippsland last December and this nine page article is the result.
Life is all about balance. And awesome adventure.
Wild, wet and wonderful. 💚🌴That’s Babinda, our free camp about 60kms south of Cairns. Swipe through to see some tropical low life and our little green hitchhiker. 🌴🏝️
Gorgeous Etty Bay, not far from Innisfail. There’s not much here, except a road that leads to a soft white beach, a Surf Life Saving Club and a small caravan park. Oh, and the local Southern Cassowarys that patrol the area.
Everyone has a dream. For Jose Paronella, a pastry chef coming from Spain to Far North Queensland in 1929 his dream was to build a castle. And so he did! On 13 acres beside Mena Creek Falls he built castles, bridges and tunnels and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7000 tropical plants and trees.
First campfire we’ve had in ages! From beachside to riverside in under an hour. We mightn’t be travelling very far or fast but we’re loving the changeable far North Queensland landscape. 🌴
