Cleansing, Celebrating and Choosing Love

It continually amazes me how the Universe brings us what we put out there. When I chose my word of the year back in January, I had no idea how apt it would be and that in December I’d be working as a cleaner at a caravan park in West Australia!

What was my word? “Cleanse.”

So here we’ve been, since late October, in beautiful, windswept Kalbarri. We’re on our last shifts and will be finishing after Christmas, slightly earlier than originally contracted.

Today, also fittingly, I did a complete clean and defrosting of the van fridge. But, domestic chores aside, undoubtedly the biggest cleanse this year has been in my inner world which has been shaken up and stirred like a cocktail as I’ve navigated new paths and a journey that’s still unfolding.

For the first time we’ll be spending Christmas without our two kids and, although we’ll miss them heaps, I know deep down each of us are exactly where we’re meant to be. We’re all on our individual soul journeys.

As I look back on my first post of the year, Starting Fresh in 2021, a lot resonates. The unpredictable weather patterns and constant changing “directives” make life almost surreal these days. But reality is cleansing the old and making way for the new. As we navigate into 2022 Mother Nature still seems to be giving lessons on being mindful, patient and resilient.

Cleansing the Earth

The amount of unseasonal cyclones, torrential rain, flooding, bushfires, earthquakes and unprecedented weather events in parts of the world this year, including here in Australia, just keeps on coming and is inexplicable.

God sometimes takes us into troubled waters, not to drown us. But to cleanse us.

Is it climate change, man made weather manipulation or Gaia cleansing the Earth of the huge amount of negativity and evil. Are there bigger forces at play? A larger picture with lessons for us all perhaps. And can we keep our face towards the sun and our energy and vibration high during these intense periods?

No one knows how things will unfold in the future. But what I do believe is that the darkness is slowly being exposed by the light and truth. Slowly things are surfacing, old systems are crumbling and narratives are falling apart.

Whatever’s happening in the outside world, whatever the weather, I believe if we keep our optimism and curiosity high we’ll find our way into a brighter and more loving future. It may take time but I do feel that changes to come will be for the better. And love will lead the way. It’s time to let go of judgements and ego and come together. We can still be kind to each other, even if we disagree.

It’s not all been about cleaning and work though. There’s been plenty of fun and laughter and reason for celebration.

Cherishing what’s important

Last week we spent five relaxing days on the coast at Cervantes, with a couple of kindred spirits who we met months ago, but who we feel we’ve known forever.

During our time with Sue and Steve we enjoyed walks on the beach, we played Rummy, went bike riding and did “girlie” things whilst the guys talked cars and fixed vans. We cooked crayfish, visited the awe inspiring Pinnacles at dusk, went sand driving and had a lot of laughs as well as plenty of deep and meaningful conversations.

As this strange, tumultuous and somewhat surreal year draws to a close, I cherish those moments that remind me of what it means to be expanding and evolving. It seems more important than ever to follow our heart and focus on what feels right. Loving each other, even if we disagree, using discernment when it comes to making choices and trusting in our own intuition.

Celebrating the now

Last Sunday we celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary. We worked our morning shift, then cooled off in the ocean that afternoon. Dinner that night was a gorgeous seafood meal at the renowned but a-la-casual Finlay’s in Kalbarri, complete with live music, rustic memorabilia and a relaxed vibe. It was a perfect alfresco night, in this coastal town that’s been our home for over two months.

Life is a journey and, if you fall in love with the journey, you will be in love forever.

Isn’t it amazing how life can evolve when we’re open to new experiences and we step off the hamster wheel of life. Our trip was only meant to be three months yet through circumstances and choices we find ourselves taking detours and meeting like minded people, exploring opportunities and open to the abundance and surprises of the Universe.

Choosing what feels right

As of 30 December all hospitality workers in West Australia need to have had their first jab. So it will be time for us to move on. Each of us have free will and the freedom to do what feels right, even if it means letting go of some things. I put my faith in the powers of the Universe, of which we’re all co-creators,

What do you want in life? Is it more abundance, more freedom to do what you want with no time constraints? Do you long for more adventure and spontaneity? Or do you feel stuck in a rut of societal expectation and past programming?

The time will pass anyway. You can either spend it creating the life you want or spend it living the life you don’t want. The choice is yours.

There’s been so much fear that’s been pumped into the entire world for the past 18 months. It’s time to shake it off and for the pain and uncertainty to shift to optimism, awareness and understanding. Perhaps the greatest gift we can give this Christmas season is love, empathy and kindness, to each other and to ourselves. When we act and feel from the heart everything makes sense.

Kindness is the water that nurtures love’s garden.

‘Cleanse’ has been my word of the year but I have a feeling it’s going to be an ongoing process. Cleansing the old and creating the new, from the inside out. What an exciting time to be on a journey.

Wherever you are I wish you pure love and a clean slate of vision and clarity for 2022. May you find a calm and loving space in this strange and still beautiful season and, especially, may there be peace upon the Earth.

    I’m blessed that I met circumstances early in life that forced me into the freedom of living life as I wanted. I’ve had the adventure and spontaneity, now it’s my time to centre and focus on my meditation … as you said to each our own! And how blessed that we have that freedom … any plans of where to from here for you two?

      So glad you got off the grid Kate and are living life the way you want. Good for you! 🌟

      As for us, once we finish our stint here we’ve got some big car repairs booked in at Geraldton. Then we’ll start heading down south to meet up with our friends again, in the south western district. Basically we’ll continue our adventures. Stay well and happy. 😊 xx

  6. Dear Miriam, How lovely to see you still travelling around our beautiful beguiling country. May I take this opportunity to wish you and your hubby everything your hearts desire for the future. We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary this year in miserable (to be honest) circumstances, But of course we made the most of it. We couldn’t travel anywhere, so we commissioned a painting from a favourite artist to mark the momentous occasion. And not forgetting to wish you all the very best for the Festive Season too.   16. Dearest Miriam, you are both such prime examples of following your heart and living in the moment.. As you trust your inner intuition and Divine guidance that leads you to the right place at the right time. That allows you to meet and greet the right people who feel like your soul tribe, that you felt you have known for years..
    In fact you probably have known each other for more years than you care to remember as we meet and greet our true soul families that we are now once again all gravitating to finding each other..
    And as we watch the process unfurl..

    Your chosen word of Cleanse last year shows how your own intuition was already in gear… Little realising just how literal that was or how much we all need to clear out, not only our inner selves, but the collective is clearing out all those old systems of control and darkness which have ruled us for so long..

    This was never going to be easy.. But we came here exactly for this time Miriam and our hearts are the keys to opening these energy doors which are allowing in the light to clear out the darkness once and for all…

    I feel we may see some more bumps as backs get pressed against the wall… But we have got this, and our Star family of soul brothers and sisters are all gathering and connecting …

  18. Happy Anniversary to you and your husband! And keep on following your heart….you are amazing and I love the way your share your insights (and photos) through your blog. I’m not as free spirited as you, but I have definitely learned to let go of many of the things that have help me back, so I’m getting there.
