Blue Lotus Love

“The Earth laughs in flowers.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

If that’s true then the flowers at the Blue Lotus Water Garden in Yarra Junction must be the happiest on the planet.

Located just off the Warburton highway, barely an hour from home, I found a glorious landscape. Lakes and ponds, filled with thousands of water lilies and lotus flowers that looked straight out of a Claude Monet masterpiece.

For hours I was transported and immersed, together with my friend Lily, into a world of beauty and colour. Today, on Valentines Day, I’m sharing some of that here.

Breath in deeply and let your life unfold

Walking into this place instantly made me breath deeper but it’s not always that easy. Sometimes we get so caught up in worries that we forget to breath properly. Do it now if you’re a bit tense. Breath in, hold, breath out, release.

We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world. Buddha

What we focus on grows. We can choose to focus on what is good in our world or we can hold on to worries so tightly that they consume us. Let them go and things tend to unfold naturally.  Focus on the positives and life will be better.

Treat yourself to a day out, either with a friend or by yourself.  Be kind to yourself, speak supporting words (like you would to a friend), find something you’re proud of and check in with how you’re feeling.

Focus on filling your own heart with self love, pure deep love. When you love yourself everything becomes simpler and lighter.

Each flower does not seek to be the most beautiful. It only seeks to bloom

It’s far too easy in our fast paced and social media obsessed society to compare ourselves to others. However we’re all unique in every way and there’s room in this world for everyone to shine.

Trust in your abilities and don’t try to be someone you’re not or follow a path that’s not meant for you. Accept who you are, the good and the bad, and make changes as you want, not because someone else wants you to be different.

Minds are like flowers. They open only when the time is right. “Stephen Richards

“Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Not everything happens straight away, just as, like nature, nothing blooms all year.

To blossom the lotus flower has to grow through mud and mucky pond water. But it blooms anyway, through tough conditions. It turns its face to the sun each morning and blooms pristine and untouched by the mud.

Like a lotus that closes at night and sinks below the water’s surface only to resurface again, we do the same. Each day we find inner strength as we face new challenges.

May we live like the Lotus. At ease in muddy water.

Life’s often filled with unexpected things that can throw us off the path. My friend Lily slipped during the day at Blue Lotus and went splat into a muddy puddle.

After I helped her up and brushed her off we both joked at the odds that she could slip, on such a sunny warm day, in the only muddy patch! Maybe a sign of good luck, after all she was in all likelihood covered in lotus mud. Don’t they say that in the mud good things grow?

Believe in yourself.  You have the ability to manifest anything

Your only limit is your mind and this is what I’m discovering in my own life right now.

Visualising, planning and taking steps to change things in my world is opening all sorts of possibilities in my life.

“A flower blossoms for its own joy.” – Oscar Wilde

Just love. Everything else is a distraction

At the end of the day, love is what matters. Love and look after yourself, love the people in your life, love the world. Love your enemies, yep, it’ll drive them crazy! No matter what else is going on, nothing matters more.

Imagine yourself like a lotus flower in full bloom, beautiful and strong. If you’re going through some shitty stuff, trust that you’ll grow through it all and emerge into the light. Always believe in new beginnings.

Life IS beautiful.

Happy Valentines Day.

In light and love

“Life is the flower for which love is the honey.” – Victor Hugo

  1. Miriam, a very Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your post is a glory of flowers and loving thoughts! The lotus flower is astonishing, I’ve never seen anything quite like it and as I read your words alongside the beauty I feel a calm descending upon me. I love all your quotes and the first Emerson one is fantastic: “The Earth laughs in flowers.” Thank you for brining us along on yours and Lily’s day out and for your wise words! So many stand out but how true that:’Your only limit is your mind and this is what I’m discovering in my own life right now.’ With this knowledge, I wonder what you will be doing next?😀❤️

      1. Happy Valentines Day to you Miriam, where I come from it is called ” All hearts Day ” so you can
celebrate your friends, your parents, ……even your enemies as you say. That made me laugh. You are right though.
As to the Lotus flowers, what more can I say. They are almost otherworldly in their beauty and
charachter. No wonder Monet painted them over and over and over again.

You seem to have found deeper peace and harmony Miriam, even at this distance it is tangeable.
I feel so very in tune with all you write in this post and the quotes are fantastic.
” The Earth loves in flowers ” . Wonderful. What a title that would be. 😊 .

        Keep smiling my friend

  5. Hi Miriam, it’s a beautiful place. Barry and I were there just two weeks ago and I bought some of the dried lotus pods to paint and draw. We went on to Mont de Lancey for tea and scones afterwards. I feel blessed to live so close to the Yarra Valley and all it’s offerings. Lovely post with fantastic photo’s. Fingers crossed for the award.

  11. Love that pop of colour. We visited a lotus pond in Korea in 2017 and I still remember how beautiful it was. I;m all for day trips with girlfriends. It’s fun to leave everything behind and just have a day to be yourself. 🙂
