Twisted

In my neck of the woods things are a bit twisted.

There’s yarn bombing down the Main Street, along the railway fence, which acts as a canvas for knitted trains and assorted rural scenes.

Not far away, at Strathewen, street poles are knitted and twisted. Who would think something so ordinary could look so snug and appealing.

Less than fifteen minutes away in Kangaroo Ground lies a world of metal that defies the senses.

At Tread Sculptures Tim Read turns the twisted remains of scrap metal into a unique array of individual quirkiness. I’ve blogged about this place before but it seemed apt this week.

On the first weekend of every month his sculpture garden is open for those who want to wander and ponder a world of extraordinary twisted steel.

Look beyond the ordinary ‘stuff’ and there’s a deep connection with what he salvages and creates.

Like all artists we take the scraps and the good bits and somehow the end product always ends up unique and original.

It’s the same everywhere. There’s rarely a completely straight line in nature.

There’s so many twists and turns …  in the physical and the non-physical.  Sometimes the best thing to do is to let the wind blow and the wheels turn.

Even when everything feels like it’s standing still, life’s always changing. It’s curved and challenged, depending on how you look at it.

I guess how we perceive things is all in the eye of the beholder.

Even if the beholder is sightly bent and a bit twisted.

So laugh and the world will laugh with you.

Maybe the trick is simply to be ourselves, twisted and all, even when things aren’t on the straight and narrow.

Wherever the path leads us, along the twists and turns, through the highs and lows, the quirky and the individual, hold on and enjoy the view.Beneath Ayers Rock

Life is inherently twisted but you know what they say “when something’s gone off course in your life, just yell ‘plot twist’ and move on.”

Everything eventually unravels and works itself out in good time.

In response to The Daily Post: WPC: Twisted

This is the second last Weekly Photo Challenge run by the Daily Post before they end forever. I’ll miss these challenges but will continue to be inspired by the many prompts offered to us by all the twists and turns of life.

Keep enjoying the journey.

  2. Thank you for this post — both inspiring and reassuring! I am always grateful to be reminded that “There’s so many twists and turns … in the physical and the non-physical. Sometimes the best thing to do is to let the wind blow and the wheels turn…” And I love the public yarn art. Last fall someone installed a bunch of very colorful knitted and crocheted creations on a grove of trees in my town which I often pass on my bike. Hurrah for playful creativity!!!

        1. Aww, if I could afford it, I’d fly you over here for a nice long holiday on a long white sandy beach. Mind you, it’s bloody freezing here right now so we’d have to go on a road trip to the other side of the country. 😬 But hey, that’d be fun too right?

  3. Look at all this amazing art. I love it! Yes, life is full of twists and turns. It’s hard to trust that it all works out and leads you to exactly where you’re supposed to be in the end, but I do believe it does if we can hang on for the ride. I appreciated what you wrote about how even when life is standing still it’s changing. I think some of my greatest growth has been during what I think of as “incubation” periods.

  7. I wouldn’t want life any other way than twisted. I consider myself a bit twisted…ok maybe a lot…and I love that! Sometimes life does throw twists and turns at us, making sure we don’t fall asleep at the wheel of our lives! A good twist or turn every now and again is just what we need. I love those pieces of artwork…as they say…one person’s junk is another person’s treasure! How true that is. So let’s continue with our twisted lives, smile and welcome every turn. Wishing you a twisted Sunday, my sweet friend…Big Curvy Hugs xo 🙂 ❤

  9. Love that this, “Like all artists we take the scraps and the good bits and somehow the end product always ends up unique and original,” is basically what I just said in my last comment.

And thank you here for the “YOLO” and plot twist reminders. Yes, I will soften into both.

    Much love! ❤️
