Miracles, Music and Meditation

Life is like an open Gratitude Journal, a story of abundance and hope, just waiting to be written.

This is my journal with pages still blank, dreams still unfulfilled and hopes wrapped up waiting to unfold.

It’s a beautiful, exciting, scary time.

I look around and see so much to be grateful for and I walk through life these days with a lighter heart than I’ve had for a long time.

Yet the darkness lingers and there are days when the beast of anxiety takes a stranglehold. It takes a conscious effort to quell it before everything feels okay again.

There’s so much I want to achieve that it often scares me. It feels daunting and sometimes I’m not even sure what I’m doing, through all of the fumbling, falling and mistakes.

But then I shake myself and remind myself I’m on my way and it doesn’t matter how long it takes, or how many times I fall because the joy is in the journey, in the people we meet, the places we go and the chances we take.

Does it really matter how long it takes us, so long as each day we’re doing what we love.

We may spend years trying to find that dream but that’s another miracle in life. Waking up to who we are, what we love and creating a purpose filled life.

Find your passion and live it before it’s too late.

I want to share three things that have had a huge impact on me this year.

Miracles

Those ordinary moments that aren’t so ordinary, those inexplicable signs that manifest as if like magic.

Like the peace lilies that appeared on my birthday, after I’d been missing mum, the rainbow lorikeets that visited, the unusual phone calls and synchronistic moments that leave me in wonder but knowing I’m on the right path.

Then there are those gifts from the heavens, the rainbows, sunsets, shooting stars, flashes of night light and rain that falls during songs.

Perhaps we just need to keep an open heart and mind, and have faith, even when we don’t understand. Perhaps the secret is simply to allow and feel, deeply and with all of our senses.

I read recently that having a grateful heart is like a magnet for a miracle.

When we’re in tune with ourselves and the world anything is possible.

Life is all about the small moments. When we notice them miracles appear everywhere.

Sunset over the lake while camping last weekend
I asked Deb from Once Upon a Hot Flash (the queen of Gratitude) for her thoughts on Miracles. This is what she wrote:

“I’ve always believed in happily ever after, always wore my heart on my sleeve, believed in Prince Charming and fairy tale endings, saw the world through rose-colored glasses. I love the words magical, enchantment, enchanting, wonder, miracle, mystery, love, romance, you get the idea. I am definitely a romantic and I love Love Stories. I love to daydream and imagine and create magical, love stories with happy endings. When you meet “the one” and make “that” connection you feel it, you know it and then you realize you saw your miracle last night!! Wishing you your miracle!

Music

Those words were born from a song titled ‘Miracle’that Deb wrote recently and last week I sang and recorded it. Listen carefully and you’ll hear, as if on cue from the heavens, the rain join in half way through.

A three way collaboration with Deb, myself and mother nature. I hope you enjoy it.

Meditation

As I write this I’m into Day 75 of my 90 day Meditation Challenge started by Wendy at Brilliance within with her 90 Day Change a Habit Challenge.

Wendy’s blog is full of inspiration and insight and my decision to join her challenge and meditate daily for 90 days has turned into a habit that I believe will last a lifetime.

Making time to stop and centre myself, for even just five minutes a day, has had a profound affect.

I’ve used guided meditations, listened to inspiring music, spoken positive affirmations and made good use of my birthday headphones. But I’ve realised it’s more than just sitting cross legged and saying om.

Anything that takes us to our core is at the heart of meditation.

Those moments when time stands still takes us back to our raw and authentic self. Fully living in the moment with all of our senses.

That’s when still waters run deep.

So the journey continues with all of its ups and downs, it’s ebbs and flows and so does the music and the meditation.

It’s coming up to a New Moon (18/19 November), another period of awakening and looking ahead to our dreams. It’s also the 50th birthday of my good friend Lily and I’ll be helping her celebrate this weekend in Kilmore.

I feel like it’s another metamorphosis and expansion as we embrace our next stage of life. Fifty and frisky, I love it.

Whatever happens next I’m going to let go and let the blessings flow and I wish the same for all of you.

Tonight I flicked ahead to the writings of the New Moon and was anazed at how much the words resonate with where I’m at on my journey. Here they are:

I’m going to end this post with some empowering words of a Robbie Williams song, which I hope you love as much as I do.

I love my life
I am powerful I am beautiful I am free
I love my life
I am wonderful I am magical I am me ..
And finally I am where I wanna be

Even if you think you’re not where you want to be, just breath and have faith. Miracles do happen.

Wishing you all love and light and a heart filled with music as we continue the journey together.

Sharing this for Forgiving Fridays … as Debbie said in a message to me today “To me, gratitude, doing what we love, ordinary miracles and kindness and patience with ourselves – these are great keys to forgive.”

  1. #AnsweringTheUnanswered #Meditation

While I am certainly not a spiritual Guru and definitely not an enlightened being , but I have every reason to be grateful to the nature or to the divine for helping me to be continuously on this auspicious path of seeking thyself for quiet sometime now.

The very purpose of writing this blog is to answer, based on my own experiences , based on what exactly I have actually felt and subsequently understood so far , some of the very basic questions/doubts which usually bother the beginners as I sincerely wish that whosoever flag starts his/her spiritual journey ,finds absolutely no reason to quit this path.

Hope you too will find this write up worth reading and worth sharing so that it reaches the right seekers !

  2. You’ve expressed so beautifully words I couldn’t formulate. This bit is undeniable “having a grateful heart is like a magnet for a miracle.” Thank you for this insightful post. You and Deb were meant to be.

        1. When I click on your gravatar it says the page is loading but nothing comes up. Maybe it’ll be different from my laptop. When I have time I’ll try again.

  3. I, too, love this idea: “having a grateful heart is like a magnet for a miracle.” I just found your blog by entering MUSIC on the WordPress search field. Thank you for sharing your process and your music (and a song by Robbie, too!)

  4. I’m the 266th person to Like your post but truth is – I Love it. There’s so much beauty in your heart, Miri and to hear you speak of your experienes and hopes is uplifting because you speak from a place of truth and love. When you say things like “having a grateful heart is like a magnet for a miracle” then that resonates with me. We are both of an age. And although the exact same experiences haven’t happened to us, we are still joined by things that go beyond the place we live, our gender and other trivial stuff. We are both here together in a world where miracles are real. Keep the faith, Miri – good things are around every single corner – we just have to look for them & accept them. Stuff ends. Stuff begins. Stuff it!
    Kindness – Robert.

    1. Well you might be the 266th person to like this post but you’re also possibly one of the few that’s seen right into my heart with your comment. Thank you for your beautiful words Robert. It means a lot and actually made me a bit emotional when I read your words. To think that we’re both on the same path and that beneath your humour and wit (which I’ve always loved) you understand me is a nice feeling. Yes, we are both of an age and I think we both realise that miracles are very real but it’s all up to us. Here’s to both of us keeping the faith hey?
Stuff ends, stuff begins, stuff it”. Love it! 💙🙂 Thank you again.

        1. I thought so. I was trying to think of a funny acronym instead like Weird Piglets but see that’s not even funny, it’s getting late and my brain’s tired. You’ll have to excuse me 😏

  5. I love that you wrote about gratitude and miracles. Where did you read “Having a grateful heart is a magnet for miracles?” Whatever it’s from I’m sure I wold love to read that, too! I’m a huge “A Course in Miracles” fan and am actually starting again tomorrow on Day 1 for my blog. It’s amazing how small adjustments in your thinking can totally change your day. Thank you also for sharing your music. I don’t have the gift of it myself, but agree music can help you tap into the beauty and flow of life!
