Nothing gets me out of the doldrums more than stepping outside into fresh air.
There’s something about being outdoors that calms me. And makes me realise that we’re more than our problems.
The simple pleasure of drinking fresh water from a flowing mineral pool makes me grateful for what we often take for granted.
A simple pleasure of a meal cooked and eaten outside.
My mum always said that food tastes better in the fresh air and she was right.
Somehow, when chaos reigns indoors going out, even for a little while, gives us perspective.
And worries have less power over us when we’re amongst nature.
The old adage seems so true … slow down and smell the roses.
Or whatever other fresh flowers you might find along the way.
Feeling the rush of a fresh sea breeze is like a tonic to a tired heart.
Though we don’t have to be on a beach to enjoy fresh air.
Just step outside, anywhere, and feel life giving air.
Breath in deeply and feel the wonder of life fill your lungs.
Amid the worries of the world we can shift the focus to our own patch. And make it better.
Plant a tree or some fresh herbs. Here’s my freshly planted basil.
Share the love.
Like my gorgeous Argentinian neighbor who brought me over a huge bunch of freshly harvested lettuce and parsley from his garden today.
Never take a moment for granted.
Breath in fresh air and feel the hope and beauty of the present.
From fresh air to freshly colored hair there’s so much to be grateful for.
Let’s all go out and get some today.

Lovely message and photos! 🙂

That basil looks so pure so beautiful…gardening and watching the seeds turning in to saplings, is a magic in itself.
Lovely post and yes that reminds me of pending job of growing wheetgrass indoor 🌱🌱

With no walls to contain them, all the sad and painful thoughts can be released to the void and not bounce back from the ever present ceiling we impose on ourselves in the name of self protection.

That’s very true when you put it like that. I often feel confined indoors so you’re most probably right. Outside there’s freedom.

Gorgeous hair colour! I was due for colouring few weeks back, but I didn’t have any mood to do it, so know my greys are showing up. I don’t care much, but hubby and the kids are starting to complain :(. You are right, the outdoors can make miracle for us. You are so organized eating outdoors, beautiful table!

“Nothing gets me out of the doldrums more than stepping outside into fresh air.” My thoughts exactly. Yesterday was a cold foggy day and I’d preferred to have slept at home. Basil dragged me outside and I couldn’t have been happier. We explored some forest trails (fading fall) and a park densely populated with silver grass. It was fantastic. And that’s what I thought! Stepping outside makes a lot of difference! 🙂

You’re so right, Miriam! A little fresh air makes everything better, and not just for humans. One of the reasons why we try to walk all the dogs at the animal shelter each day, and not just the housebroken ones, is because it’s so good for the dogs to get outside. You can just see how much lower their stress level is after they’ve had a walk!

Absolutely, for dogs and humans alike. Thanks for the reminder Ann, I really must get Harry out for his walk today. My daughter’s been sick and I’ve neglected him a bit lately.

Miriam, what an uplifting post! Thank you. I agree, fresh air is such a way to experience gratitude and get a new perspective on life. I’m working on an evening of gratitude and am very present to what helps to give us a higher perspective. Slowing down … fresh air … sharing the love … these are beautiful keys. Thank you, my friend. Blessings, Debbie xo

Miriam, I love your post in celebration of the outdoors – I’ve always felt much better when out and used to joke I’d become a brickie as nearly envied their outdoor life – couldn’t quite see myself hauling the heavy hods up ladders! Your mum is right, food tastes divine outside and in summer we eat out as much much as possible. Lovely photos and the one of you on the beach in so wistful, thoughtful…in the moment. Well, I’m now heading off outdoors for a walk, once I’ve donned all the winter gear as it is minus three this morning!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh Annika, you’re a brave woman. Minus three hey? I don’t think I could be a brickie in that weather, maybe an Eskimo though. I hope you enjoyed your walk. Here it’s after dinner time and as much as I’d love to be outside savouring the dusk the mosquitos right now are far too friendly.

You sure know how to live and appreciate life! From drinking nature’s water to eating outside, to the beach, to the amazing waterfalls – loved the rock formations almost looked like faces carved into the rocks to the left. Your pictures are beautiful and they convey the message of how much we need to appreciate the outdoors and all that God has given to us on this earth to enjoy! Once again…thank you for the inspiration. Love your hair color too, many tonal layers, very pretty!! Many hugs…xo

I love your comment Deb. You say the nicest things! Seriously you do, now there’s only one thing left for you to do and that’s to come over here and join me in a cuppa. I have two choc muffins left that my daughter made yesterday with your name and mine on them. What do you think? Wouldn’t that be great? ☕️ xo

Thank you, it’s how you make me feel. Ah yeah!! I would absolutely love that…it’s funny but all my life I’ve always thought how I would love to go to Australia, of all the places in the world that’s place I pick…now I know why…the beauty of the land and even more so of the people, my friends, who live there!! That would be so great!!! I’ll meet you there in my dreams tonight…I’ll know you when I see the beautiful soul with two choc muffins!! xo

Aren’t you just the best Deb. Hopefully the choc muffins won’t be gone by then, knowing my daughter’s appetite they would be! If you ever truly come to Australia I’ll make a fresh batch and welcome you with open arms. In the meantime, see you in my dreams. 🙂
