Water is everywhere. It seems there’s so much of it lately … storms, floods, never ending rain. And I’ve been shedding my fair share as well. Tears falling far too regularly so it was good to get away camping again last weekend. The destination didn’t matter but I craved being near water. So we headed northwards, to Snobs Creek near the Goulburn River, less than two hours from home.
Nowhere do I feel more at peace then when I’m near water. I’ve written about it before. So when I found out the The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge was H2O this week I couldn’t resist sharing some pictures of our weekend away.
It was a gorgeous spring Saturday and we had the river to ourselves.
Sunlight shimmered on the water casting ripples and shadows. And slowly my disconnected feelings of the week ebbed away like the current in front of me.
Standing by the water I contemplated life. I thought about how nothing stays the same. How, just as a river is shaped by the obstacles in its path, our life is constantly shaped and changed by the decisions we make, the people we meet and our experiences.
Later in the afternoon we left our peaceful riverside camp and visited Snobs waterfall nearby. Nothing prepared me for the sight of the falls and the roar of the water.
It was pure force and energy. The sheer volume of water after weeks of rain was spectacular. As I stood on the viewing platform, sprayed by the water, I marveled at the power of nature close by.
My vertigo had me holding on tight but it was totally invigorating at the same time.
Standing near this thundering mass of water my worries paled into insignificance (except for the worry of dropping my camera!) The spray on my face left me feeling breathless yet so alive.
Down the other end where the cascades flowed at a more gentle pace was a chance to pause and be still in this pristine setting
Back at camp, with my feet up at the end of the day, I sat and pondered what’s still to come on the journey … what obstacles, challenges, decisions await.
Life doesn’t flow smoothly all the time but there’s always an opportunity to change something, to invest more energy or get excited about improving things. That’s my goal. Even in the roughest waters there is smooth sailing, if we can ride it out.
May we all learn to slow down, go with the flow and enjoy whatever comes our way.
Wishing you all a happy and smooth sailing week ahead.
Stunning photo’s and a chance to relax and unwind.

Okay, the cartoon cracks me up, and reminds me of my husband. 😀
With the past year that you’ve had, it’s no surprise that you’ve been so emotional lately! I’m so glad you got a chance to get outside and reconnect with your waterfalls and rivers. What a great way for you to feel cleansed, refreshed, restored.
I pray for peace for you, dearheart. You so need a time to catch your breath and simply be. Here’s to more trips, and more dancing in the waterfall spray! ❤ *hugs*

That is magnificent. I don’t think there is anything that calms my soul like water. (I am a Pisces after all)
Growing up we used to go Flume Gorge and it never got old. Water rushing down on both sides of you and then when we got to top you could actually drink the water. (Not sure that would be wise now-a-days…but when I was a kid it was awesome. 🙂

I think challenges are necessary. No obstacles. How you deal with both depends on your attitude, both to yourself and those around you. If we are not challenged, then we become complacent and indifferent to life and to ourselves. Never stop seeking answers. Life really is not complicated, but at the same time it seems that we can do a fine job of screwing it up! Keep wondering. Great looking spot to relax and unwind. Cheers

I totally agree that if we aren’t challenged we become complacent but we can sometimes screw it up. I’m in a place of Limbo at the moment, after many changes in my life, so it’s working out my direction, questioning and seeking out these challenges that will push me forward. Thanks for a very thought provoking comment Dan.

Isn’t it amazing how water can be so calming, and yet also be so invigorating? I’m glad you had a weekend by the river to slow down and relax, but I’m also glad you had the chance to be by the falls so that you could feel the energy that you need to face the changes that life brings. Water is such a gift in life…. Take care, Miriam!

I definitely did feel that energy Ann, it was breath taking and so incredibly strong that I felt I didn’t want to leave it. Kind of wanted to bag it up and take it with me to remind me of the strength that we all have inside (but that I feel I’m lacking lately).
Thanks for your wonderful comment as always Ann. I always love hearing from you.

Yes Mother Nature. She reminds us she is in charge, she reminds us of the bigger picture and she reminds us to slow down.
I keep missing your posts in the reader, it is almost like they are not appearing in it.It’s happened three times now.
Anyway have a good week and find something soothing to do this weekend as well. Louise

Thanks Louise, you’re right about Mother Nature and the bigger picture. Thanks also for letting me know about the Reader. I had a feeling my posts weren’t appearing. I’ve been having some issues and apparently loads of my comments have ended up in spam as well so I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve contacted WP and hopefully they can shed some light. Thanks for still seeking out my posts.
Hope you’re having a good week. Next weekend is the Open Cellars around this area, so I might go out and check out some local wineries! 🙂 xo

Miriam – these photographs are amazing. You really do live in a spectacular Country. You have opened my eyes to another world of Australia that I had never seen before. That waterfall – WOW what a thoroughly cleansing and beautiful experience you had and I thank you for sharing it with us… I think one of the things I’m so loving about my blogging journey is the insight into lives, people and places that I never would have seen otherwise and this is definitely one of those special posts that will stay with me! Thankyou xx
