Blue Crayon Award

Do you ever feel like there’s not enough hours in the day? That the days, weeks and months are flying by?  I’m noticing it even more now I have my blog. I have so many good intentions that fly by undone.  But we can only do so much.  Life is the priority, focusing on the people in it and living the best we can. But once you start blogging this becomes part of our life too, as do the people and connections that we make.  It gets under your skin and you can’t ignore it.

Some time ago Wendy from Ramblings and Musings nominated me for her newly created Blue Crayon award and, as much as I’ve let so many slide, it was too special not to acknowledge and follow up. Her blog is all about sharing joy, inspiration and gratitude and I feel so touched that she thought of me.

There was no obligation to answer questions or follow up, just simple appreciation.

As Wendy says, “This is in by no means, a definitive list, or even a top whatever of anything.  This is just a smidgeon of who has inspired, commented, gave input, provided wonderful moments of enjoyment through sharing their photography, commentary, poetry, songs, muse, self, etc.”  I feel exactly the same way.

So I’m passing it on and here are just a few of the many bloggers that color my sky.

Unmeasured Journeys – Jessica, your gentle and kind nature radiates out of every post you write. I love the beauty on your blog and the way you bring nature into our lives. And I love the friendship that’s grown between us, despite the ocean, and the way you shared my journey with mum. I’m so grateful we have connected.

Vanessence – Ness, how many times have your words picked me up?  Vanessa has a beautiful colorful inspiring blog and I always enjoy her photos, funny memes, the gardening updates and the way she brightens a sometimes dull day. She’s written poems that speak to my heart and has a warmth that radiates.

ThirdeyeMum – If you want to be transported to ultimate arm chair travel destinations around the world Nicole’s blog will leave you breathless. Her stunning photos are coffee table material and her vision and travel ethic of exploring the world through social good ranks her as one of my favorite travel bloggers.

Brilliance Within – Wendy seems totally on my wavelength. Not only do we have an uncanny amount of things in common but it seems that most things she writes resonates with me. Her blog is warm and welcoming, full of light and love and packed with inspirational posts that are a joy to read.

Weird Guy with the Dog – For a dose of reality on the road, stunning photos, profound writing about life and a message of hope Weird Guy’s blog never disappoints. He often makes me think beyond the ordinary and with the occasional music thrown in along with his love of the sea and his dog Vinny I always look forward to his posts.

Zen and the Art of Everyday Living – Richard is a relatively new blogger I’ve been following but from the start his profound words have spoken to me. Posts that are so apt for my current journey in life. His words speak of zen and mindfulness and how we can apply it to live the best life we can.

Muddling through my Middle Age – Whenever I read Ann’s posts I’m often nodding my head and chuckling because her lifestyle sounds so similar to mine. We have an uncannily similar sense of how life is and I can relate to many of her posts. Warm, witty and refreshingly down to earth her posts often leave me wanting more.

A Kinder Way – Nikki and her equally talented photographer hubby Steve have a knack of putting a smile on my face and putting things into perspective. She has a lovely blog that radiates with kindness and compassion,  a touch of humor and practical advice on every day issues that we’re all dealing with.

These are just a snippet of the wonderful blogs that I love. So many of you inspire me with your writing. I’ve forged so many amazing connections and friendships in the last year, some deeper than others. You know who you are.  So, if anyone out there – whether on WP or in real life – inspires you don’t be afraid to let them know.

Otherwise just go out and give someone a hug and spread some love.

I wish you all sunshine and blue skies in your days.

May we all keep enjoying the journey.

  3. Thank you so much for including me and Vinny. I always look forward to your comments and you great stories of the “Outback”, a place I hope to sail to someday. We both agree there is nothing better than the basics of nature to put into perspective what really matters in the short existence on this planet we are lucky to have, and that’s time with the ones we care about…and I care about you!

    1. You’re so kind. Yes, we do think the same. I think we have some huge fundamental things in common and that’s one of the reasons I love your blog so much. Happy driving my friend.

  5. Oh thank you so much for including me. (And the shout out to Steve as well). Some people may not buy into the connection that can be made from screen to screen…but I certainly do. I think you’re just fabulous and I’m so grateful for our growing friendship. xxx ❤

  6. I love the concept – the blue crayon. It sounds like you’ve got some great choices and you’re right – blogging becomes part of life. It’s a gift to the internet.

  7. I was just thinking about it the other day… if 24 hours a day are really enough?! But i come to a realisation that yes they are and they are even more than we need…. there is 24h per day for a reason & it is up to us to organise our priorities… so i’m doing as much as i can while mixing it with some fun! 😊☺❤

  8. Just as writing a blog becomes a part of you, so do the friendships created in the process. I’ve been amazed when I have met up with blogging friends by how easy we are together. It’s like we’ve always known each other and there’s plenty to talk about. I guess the virtual friendships are like any others. When it’s the right person, there’s just no stopping it. Happy weekend to you, Miriam.

  9. Thank you so much, Miriam! I feel exactly the same way about your blog…it speaks to me in so many ways, and I am always the better for reading your posts. I am so glad I found it, and you. It’s amazing how we follow so many blogs, but a “core group” emerges of blogs and bloggers who we deliberately seek out, day after day. Thank you for being in my group!
Which makes me even more sorry that for some reason, your last three comments on my posts went into spam! Especially since they didn’t even show up in there until today. Please know I would never ignore your comment on my post, as I value them way too much! I tell you, I think WordPress has it in for me these days… And I am so sorry for the delay in my response!

    1. No need to apologise Ann … and I’m having the same problem myself. Seems as though WP has it in for me lately as well, so many of my comments are ‘lost’ and my favorite bloggers don’t appear in my Reader. I have to go looking for their posts. But thank you Ann for your lovely words, I’m also so glad to have you in my group!

  10. OH! Oh my goodness! I was going to wish you congrats on your award and there you’ve linked to me! You are way too sweet to me! ❤ Thank you, sweetheart!

I was going to say yes, I know exactly how it is with not enough hours! LOL Especially what with starting back to homeschooling this past week, after a nice vacation. But the thing with vacations is that there are always so many projects I heap on my plate that it's really not much of a vacation, lol. I think I haven't been able to check my email in days, and then my email program died on me again and I wonder where the breath went that I was trying to catch. Whew!

You are a blue crayon for me too. I love this. What a brilliant idea for an award! Yes, you color my sky and have made my world bigger, and certainly more adventurous! I get the weather report for your nearby big city and when I see it's storming I say a little prayer that your power stays on. And my heart – somehow it knows – whatever I might feel I know that you would understand and commiserate, because you have become my friend. Yes, my blue crayon, too. *hugs* ❤ ❤ Love you!

      1. I feel that way about you. *hugs*

I’ve been absent a lot more than I intended, too, lately, although for me it’s been homeschool and housework and soaping things and projects. I hope you’ve been well and just renewing your strength and energy. ❤

        1. What in the world is going on?! This is so bizarre! Something is definitely up at WordPress. Hmm. :/

I feel like I’ve been going non-stop. I think it’s part of Autumn, too, just trying to clean and get things ready for Winter. All that fun stuff, lol. I’m anxious for something and don’t know what but I feel like I have to get things ready.

        2. Sounds like you need to slow down a bit Ness, but I know what you mean about going non-stop. Although lately for me I’ve slowed and am feeling lethargic and unmotivated. Got to get myself into gear I think.
And sort out WP. If I suddenly go “off the air” well, the Gremlins have got me good!
          Take care. xo
