In the Woods

20160710_131529

Lost in the corners of my mind
with a darkness and uncertainty
giants rising
unexpectedly
In the woods.

Looming above me
paths everywhere
obstacles blocking them
yet urging me forward
In the woods

Following the sun
finding the path
yet a stumble and a falter
unsure which way to turn
In the woods.

But light is beyond
and guided by a strength
and new resolve
at one with myself
In the woods.

No longer lost
absorbed in its beauty
no longer afraid
open to the magic
In the woods.

This was inspired by a recent trip to Redwood Forest in Warburton, about an hour from home. The woods were eerie and moody yet at the same time majestic and stunning.  All through the redwoods there were twirls of branches, like giant nests where you would expect a prehistoric dragon to give flight.

It was a magical place which stirred the senses and awakened the imagination.

Wishing everyone magic and a sense of wonder today and every day.

      1. You look as if you are a part of the Redwoods, totally blended in it.
Lucky Girl you, got to prance about in such Heavenly Woods.
Here we living in India, have to go out hunting to find Woods. Wish I was born in London and my Grandma, did not leave London and come to India.

    1. It’s tucked away on Cement Creek Road, which is off Woods Point Road about 10 kms out of town.. A little gem we hadn’t heard of ourselves until recently. Worth a visit.

      1. Hi Miriam. Having some blog issue. I can’t comment on anyone’s blogs. The comments are going to your spam. If you move me from spam to approved I can then comment like normal. 😦 Thanks.

  4. Just breathtaking! What a wonderful view! I bet the smell there was heavenly, too. 🙂

I loved your poem. You really captured that sense of perseverance, I think, about just staying strong and not giving up until you reach the end. 🙂

    1. I’ll have to check it out tonight. I’ve just got back from our overnighter at the beach so I’m very behind in my reading. Sounds interesting. 🙂

  5. This is glorious, Miriam. Love these photos and your poem.
I just went to the Rockettes today, and there was a line “There’s magic everywhere, if only one has the eyes to see.”
❤ Blessings your way, my friend. Beloved post.

  6. So majestic Miriam!! I didn’t know there were redwood forests in Australia!! They are native to California, where we live and I love hiking the the trees, past meadows with streams and deer… So fun to see you pics!

      1. You are so welcome! I don’t know if I could quite muster the courage to do it. Your photos are their own form of poetry, and the stanzas compliment them so well. 🙂
