I had the craziest dream last night. I was driving my car and my daughter was beside me. We were veering down a mountain road when suddenly the road narrowed and as I turned the corner my car scraped the mountainside. There was no turning back. The car was on a roll downwards and heading for a river. And there was no way to stop. I was going into the water.
I woke up before we hit the water. But I remember thinking I was going to jump out of the car before it could be submerged. There was no way I was going under.
It’s possible my dream was triggered by my daughter’s off road adventure the other day. This is her in her car. It appears she’s inherited our spirit and passion for adventure!
It’s also possible, if anyone has any expertise in dream interpretation, that this dream could mean I’m going under. That the water is symbolic of my emotional state.
But I feel like I’m on the verge of something new, so it’s ironic that I should dream about losing control Maybe it’s the uncertainty of what lies ahead.
Some days I feel totally focused and then there are others where I feel like I’m going in opposite directions. Like it’s two steps forward, one step back. Blue skies then rain.
But I’ve realised determination and attitude is everything. If we want something badly enough we can achieve it. It’s about how we think. And having a vision.
So I’ll just keep looking up and believing that anything is possible.
Harry knows about keeping his eyes open to new scenery. Every time we travel he relishes everything around him. Dogs totally know how to live in the moment.
For now I’ll just keep ploughing through the roads of uncertainty, taking the odd detour when things don’t go quite as planned but I’ll stay focused on following my path.
What we think about determines where we end up.
Eventually all roads will lead to a beautiful view and our efforts are rewarded. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to get there so long as we make the most of the trip.
May we all stay strong in our beliefs, determined in our outlook and focused on where we’re going in life. And may we have a great time along the way.
We’re all traveling on the road to success so let’s keep enjoying the journey.
Stay safe and dream happy dreams.
My grandmother had an old leather bound book that dated from the 18th century which she acquired from some gypsies passing through her home town in Poland. One of the topics in in the book was water and it stated
“If you can see the bottom then you path is clear. If you can’t see the bottom then you path may be uncertain.”
Cheers

Hi Miriam, it sounds like there’s a lot possibly coming up for you. I hope it’s all good things. But your dream was a strange one – but I think most dreams are strange.

Yeah, I agree, it was strange … but it’s the first one I’ve remembered in a long while. Usually I forget them as soon as I wake up.

I don’t remember my dreams hardly at all any more.

I used to keep a dream diary years ago but these days I’m too tired to write as soon as I wake up, and then they’re forgotten … except for today.

I would put it in, but as you’ve blogged it I kind of guess you already have! 🙂

You were ‘determined to jump out before you hit the water’. I think that’s brilliant, and so empowering.

I was determined and that’s the main thing that sticks out for me, even now, thanks Wendy.

One of your best posts. Empowering. Not all roads lead to success. But if we begin on the right path and stick to it we will eventually arrive at our destination. Love this post Miriam. Have a wonderful day. (Drive safely).

Thanks so much Andrew, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Hope you have a great day too. (I’m off to bed now, hopefully no weird driving dreams tonight) 🙂

Proverbs 3:6
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Even when my life has taken the wrong turn, I have found God leads me right back where he wants me. I just didn’t listen the first time. Beautiful post to share and reflections.

Great post, Miriam. I too had a dream about driving, losing control as it flew off the edge off a bridge into oblivion, I desperately tried to find a road again, any road but it was all black below. Reckon you’re right, maybe I do feel I’ve lost control – or is this a bit of a detour in life. I love the message in your post, great photos – let’s all be like your dog, living for the moment, enjoying the rush of the wind as the car races along. Also with a mother like you is it any surprise your daughter has such a sense of adventure. How wonderful. 😀

Ah Annika, your last comment made me smile. My daughter’s definitely got a sense of adventure. As for us losing control, hopefully it’s as you said, we’re both just taking a detour. Here’s to more peaceful dreams and finding our way! xo

Oh, wow, Miriam! I started a post yesterday about choosing and blazing new paths…. Interesting synchronicities. Yes, sometimes we go under before we are reborn anew… ❤️

Most definitely. Sounds like we’re both heading in similar directions. Cheers to us staying afloat and finding our way. xo

Great post! I love how your photos are always so well connected to your stories. I often find that if I’m thinking about something, it gets woven into my dreams in a strange way! I’m sure your dream was connected to your daughters four-wheel driving adventure 🙂 I hope that your next dream involves getting out of the water and onto an exciting patch of land!

Actually Jenny, your comment just bought back a flash of my dream from last night (I’ve not long woken up) and in it I was trudging through soggy wet grass that I kept trying to walk around. Just call me weird! 🙂

Haha dreams are strange things aren’t they 🙂 I hope the grass trudging was a good one! I always find the harder I try to remember my dreams, the faster they slip away!

Oh yeah, me too. It’s usually only when I write them down that I remember them.

I know I’m a downer but I don’t believe that any amount of determination, great desire, or excellent attitude means that someone will achieve what one wants. I know my attitude sucks, but I’m not just talking about me. Again, sorry to be a downer, but I just don’t buy it. Maybe believing that helps some people… maybe I just have no faith…

That’s okay Sandra, we’re all different and believe in different things … it’s not just about attitude obviously, there has to be some concrete action behind our thoughts.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Oh, yes, action is definitely needed… I just think that we can try as hard as humanly possible but that doesn’t mean we’ll ever get where we want to be. Again, hey, maybe that’s my lack of faith… or my previous experience!

I agree with you dear. That is because there are things in life that we cannot control. But of course, there is a big possibility that the things that we want to achieve will turn into reality if we give it our best shot. And we don’t want to forget that above all, God’s will.

I am not at all religious, so in honesty, that last bit doesn’t help or mean anything to me. I fully respect that it means something to you, but I don’t believe one can assume others’ beliefs. I do not want to get into a religious discussion so I’ll leave it at that.

What a frightening dream Miriam! I hate it when I have those kinds of nightmares. Glad you are feeling good and that you are on the right path. I have too learned that attitude is so much but also not to beat myself up when I am not 100%.

Beautiful post, Miriam. Thank you for these words of encouragement. You are strong and determined! I don’t know what to make of your dream, but I saw a resilient, determined survivor in it. Someone who doesn’t blink in the face of an overwhelming problem, but gets ready to do the hard thing that must come next.
Loved the pics of you daughter off-roading! How fun!
Take care, and I hope the road ahead is a scenic one!

The picture of the building…..what is above or around that building? I love the perspective, but can’t figure out what I’m seeing.

It’s actually an enclosed clock tower Steve, in the middle of a huge shopping and entertainment complex in the city.

It’s a tower, on the inside of a huge entertainment complex in Melbourne. I put it in to symbolise looking upwards and being positive.

I think you were afraid for your daughter, Miriam. It’s a mother thing to be afraid for her child, right? That’s why the nightmare. Often, our fears interfere with our dreams. Unfortunately, I have a lot of nightmares lately. I don’t know why, but I don’t want to understand them.
Be safe, dear Miriam!
