Happy Anniversary

I’ve been blogging for one year today.  It almost passed me by except for the red ping from WordPress.  So, yay, happy anniversary to me.

I started tentatively on this day last February and never dreamed I would come to love it as much as I do.  No surprise that I’ve always loved writing and freelancing for magazines but blogging was an entirely foreign platform for me.  I’ll be honest, I was a bit scared of putting myself out there when I began. It seemed so much more personal.

My blog lay dormant for a number of months as family stresses escalated and life got more crazy but then last November I made a decision to get into it wholeheartedly.  To let my defences down.  I began reading a lot more blogs and started connecting with people.  I began reaching out more, sharing, making comments which lead to conversations and friendships.  So many talented writers out there with similar dreams, hopes and fears. I’ve discovered that we’re all so different and yet fundamentally the same.

So on this, my first year anniversary of blogging, I want to do a huge shout out to all of you out there, wonderful readers and writers. Can’t believe I have connected with nearly 500 of you.  I absolutely love you all and thank you for letting me into your life.

Here’s to another year of blogging, when I’m not out and about. This was taken in the car tonight, driving our daughter back to the High Country for another weekend of work.  Life is never dull with the coming and going and ups and downs of life.  I hope you’ll stay with me.

May we all continue to enjoy the journey.  Safe travels everyone.

  1. Happy Anniversary! I’m so glad to have found you and have connected too! Your blog is wonderful and it’s no wonder that of course so many many of us love to share in your experiences!

  2. Happy Anniversary, Miriam! The first few months of blogging are the hardest. I remember, our blog just floated around in virtual space. I didn’t use tags or know how to follow ‘like-minded’ bloggers. I think for a very long time, about half a year, we didn’t exist. I still find it difficult to write how I truly feel. I’m so happy for bloggers, like you, to help me get out of my shell! Thanks for your comments. All the best for your second year of blogging! 🙂

    1. I’m still getting my head around tags myself, even after a year of blogging. Still learning all the time but I guess that’s the beauty of this. It’s a day by day thing. Thanks for being part of it and for your comment.

  3. Congratulations Miriam! Looking forward to reading more of your blog. I am just a little a head of you on the timeline but not with all those contacts. I have been a little spasmodic due to the Nepalese earthquakes and not being able to rationalise how I was going to continue to blog. But I have decided everyone is blogging about anniversaries so I will write a post too.
Now off to find a guinea pig post…
